Quantitative Genetics

 Managing large data sets from various sources and annotating and filtering of
sequencing and genotypes.

 Perform genotype-phenotype association studies on large data sets and develop local
focused SNP panels and custom genomic selection models.

 Work with our products development team to develop a local traits based
breeding/mating software.

 Develop a Company China based genomic prediction solution as part of the global
R&D team.

 Have an in-depth understanding and the ability to convey methodologies implemented
by the Product Development team to end users.

 Present technical information and provide training to internal stakeholders, industry
groups or in response to customer requests. Aid in communicating unique features
and benefits of Company Genomics products to sales and marketing team, and assist
in training/workshop/seminar/presentation/tradeshows and other activities to
support effective implementation using genomic tools for the benefit of customers.
Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.

 Provide support to various parties for literature publications.


 Create genotype manipulation and bioinformatic tools for the local operations team to
assist with customer needs.

 Build and maintain local genotype database.

 Create user-friendly computer software and scripts to manage and mine large genomic

 Serve as a local bioinformatics and technical expert to service Company China’s
research and university-based customers and support the local data services team on
data QC, exports, troubleshooting and analysis etc.

 Systematic documentation of work progress and SOPs to ensure tools are accessible
and user-friendly.


 Master of Science (M.S.), DVM or PhD with 2-3 years of experience in the field of
animal science, dairy science, animal breeding and genetics, bioinformatics, genetics,
biotechnology, veterinary medicine, or related areas.

 Strong programming and data management skills and proficiency in R, Python, C/C++
and MS SQL.

 Familiarity with commercially available technology, genomic testing and genetic
improvement programs.

 Familiarity with Illumina and Affymetrix based genotyping and sequencing platforms.

 An understanding of commercial Agriculture production (dairy and/or beef) systems

 Fluency in both English and Mandarin a requirement. Excellent communication skills,
both oral and written.

 Contributing to a team working environment

 Proficient computer skills. Microsoft Office suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Outlook, OneNote); Adobe Acrobat; Customer Relationship Management software
experience a plus.
