Brazil is expected to become the world’s second-largest pork producer

Brazilian Minister of Agriculture in Sao Paulo Andrade the 6th meeting of the National Pork seminar, said Brazil’s pork production will be more than 200 million tons, is expected to become the world’s second largest after China’s pork producer. In addition, the increase in Chinese imports will further promote the Brazilian pork production.

Andrade said that this year the Brazilian pork exports will be more than 600,000 tons of pork has become the backbone of the country’s exports of livestock products, while last year the Brazilian pork exports to China reached 200,000 tons, the world’s largest pork consumer, China increased imports will further promote the Brazilian pork production.

The seminar aims to promote the Brazilian domestic consumption. Although Brazil is the world’s leading producer and exporter of pork, but the national average per capita consumption of 15.6 kilograms, much lower than the United States and the European Union more than 30 kilograms level.
