Meat imports win a vantage position in Vietnam market

Posted by | December 2, 2013 |

According to the Department of Animal Health, from the beginning of 2013 to now, Vietnam imported about 81,000 tons of meat cattle and poultry. Expected by 2013, the total meat imports will gain 90,000 tons. Including, the poultry imports account for 70%, equivalent to 57,000 tons; the total cattle imports estimate about 151,611 cows this year. The Vietnamese consumers prefer foreign meat than domestic meat because the prices are equal or cheaper than domestic meat while higher quality. The current situation is a big challenge for Vietnam’s livestock industry.
