Vietnam livestock situation at the beginning of 2014

According to the chairman of the Co Dong cooperative, Mr. Tran Van Chien said, the price of chicken was VND29, 000-30,000 per kilogram; the price of egg was VND18, 000-19, 000 per 10 eggs, down VND3, 000 per 10 eggs from period month.

According to the chairman of Vietnam Livestock Association, Mr. Nguyen Van Vang said, Vietnam will participate Asian Economy Cooperation (AEC) in 2015, theretofore, the imports duties will be at 0%, the domestic beef cannot compete with beef imports.

Currently, the total of cattle in Vietnam has reached 5.1 million cows but there is only 200,000 hectares pasture for cattle. Addition, Vietnam must import 180,000 cattle and 600,000 tonnes of beef meat each year.
