Vietnam’s Pig Livestock Figures for October, 2013

The price of live pigs has seen a decline recently as the North of Vietnam has recorded declining prices to VND 48,000-50,000 per kilogram, Central Vietnam recording prices of VND 43,000-44,000, and the South of Vietnam recording prices of VND 46,000-47,000.

 

Additionally, there has been a 1.5-2% increase in pork production from 2012 even with an equal pig herd size total.

 

While the price for raw materials have generally remained stable, there have been some changes such as a 5.1% increase in methionine prices, a 1.5% increase in soybean oil cake prices, an 8.1% decrease in manioc cutting, and a 1.9% decrease in fish meal prices.

 

Vietnam’s feed and raw material imports have reached USD 537 million for the month of October and have reached a total of USD 2.73 billion for 2013 to date, which signifies a 38.5% increase from the same period of 2012.

 

In other news in Vietnam, soybean imports have reached 79,000 tonnes and USD 49 million while corn imports have reached 284,000 tonnes and USD 83 million.
